Using Vue.ai\u2019s Image Recognition and Computer Vision technology, VueStudio can make every video shoppable, providing the flexibility to edit, create and design each video based on specific brand requirements. VueStudio lets retailers curate collections and create themed landing pages with video, those that can be syndicated across other channels as well. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, how does the magic REALLY happen?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking a few steps back, here is a peak into \u00a0what really goes on behind the scenes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are \u00a0two parts to the video processing:- <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Video transcoding<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Shoppable frames detection &amp; product search<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After these parts are completed, the video is then available for editing and play on the front end.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"vuestudios-shoppable-video-process-contains-the-following-components\"><\/span><b>VueStudio\u2019s Shoppable Video Process Contains The Following Components:<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Video file<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Original media file<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>APIs which contain the shoppable frames and identified products<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Business logic and user curated data stored per video, per account<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Video delivery<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; via cloudfront for optimised serving of media from edge locations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Rendering of the video on the front end<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; using the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/support.vuestudio.ai\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SDK<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which ties all the above together.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"video-transcoding\"><\/span><b><\/b><b>Video Transcoding<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Traditionally, transcoding is the process of converting a video from one format to other formats for compatibility with other devices. However, VueStudio currently accepts videos only in .mp4 format. When an .mp4 video is uploaded, transcoding converts the video into multiple lower resolutions. This process roughly takes 3-5 minutes for a 1 minute long video. To do this, Amazon Web Services&#8217; Elastic transcoder service is used. Once the video is transcoded, the various output formats (1080p, 720p, 360p) are stored in unique S3 buckets. The transcoded versions are then picked for serving the videos, as per the viewers\u2019 bandwidth.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"frames-detection-and-product-search\"><\/span><b>Frames Detection And Product Search<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For every video, the process to identify shoppable frames happens in parallel with the video transcoding. The time for processing a video will be around 2 minutes for a 1 minute video. The edits in the video where there are scene changes, is the first thing identified. These are shown on the front end as sequential scenes in the video (Scene1, Scene 2&#8230;). This is useful to immediately identify potential scenes where there could be shoppable frames like in the image below.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_428\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-428\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-428\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vue.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screen-Shot-2018-08-24-at-12.49.21-PM-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vue.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screen-Shot-2018-08-24-at-12.49.21-PM-1.png 627w, https:\/\/www.vue.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screen-Shot-2018-08-24-at-12.49.21-PM-1-300x59.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-428\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Scenes from the video are automatically detected, with duration of each scene displayed, the shoppable frames are detected automatically and the markers on the video seek bar show the shoppable frames<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"identifying-shoppable-frames\"><\/span><b>Identifying Shoppable Frames<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is crucial that the most optimal frames are selected to showcase products from the video and make them shoppable, without disturbing the overall viewing experience. Shoppable frames are identified<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">based on certain rules like blur, percentage of coverage of subject on the frame and visible duration of shoppable items (detected categories). <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"linking-products-to-the-video-using-image-search\"><\/span><b>Linking Products To The Video Using Image Search <\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The shoppable frames are then used to perform an image search, where Vue.ai\u2019s image recognition technology can identify the closest matching products from the catalog associated to the VueStudio account. Surrounding frames (to the shoppable frames) may also be used to perform the product search. Since there&#8217;s a sample catalog always available, a user can see the product search results from the closest matching items in the sample catalog. Adding your own catalog also has its<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">advantages<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Once your catalog is processed, product search results will be shown from your catalog. See image below.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_429\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-429\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-429\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vue.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screen-Shot-2018-08-24-at-2.58.30-PM-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vue.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screen-Shot-2018-08-24-at-2.58.30-PM-1.png 605w, https:\/\/www.vue.ai\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screen-Shot-2018-08-24-at-2.58.30-PM-1-300x205.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-429\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The product matches will be the closest match to the shoppable frame that is detected in a video.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A user can also delete the auto detected frames\/products and add alternate shoppable frames by clicking the \u00a0&#8220;+&#8221; icon on the extreme right. This will perform a product search (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vue.ai\/products\/ai-powered-personalized-search\/\">personalized search<\/a><\/strong>) once again, for the chosen frame and find matching products from the retailer\u2019s catalog. If the product which is automatically picked is not satisfactory, users can replace the product by searching for a different product.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"video-delivery\"><\/span><b>Video Delivery<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The serving of the video file is taken care of by AWS&#8217;s Cloudfront service using the transcoded content. This ensures that the user is able to view the video in relation to their location and bandwidth.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"tying-it-all-together\"><\/span><b>Tying It All Together<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Javascript SDK<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> brings all these together for easy integration on the front end of any webpage. This same SDK is what is used by VueStudio on the landing page and on the embeddable code when it&#8217;s integrated on web pages. The SDK offers many other customization options like customising the CSS of the player and the product renderer tray. Using this option, users can customise the design of the area where the products are displayed.
